Upcoming Races

Our Racing Series is well under way. We just need better weather to make it more enjoyable! The  Sailing Programme is available under Racing on the home page. Results are to be found under the “Results”tab.  Scroll down for the next few weeks programme and duty roster.

President's Open and The Pin

The weekend of 13th and 14th July saw the annual two day event culminating in the single handicap race for The Pin.  The wind was not ideal but three races were held on Saturday and two on Sunday morning to complete the President's Trophy.  After lunch a decent wind finally came and the fleet enjoyed a good long race for The Pin. Rhys is to be congartulated on winning both events and we hope it augers well for the Laser Nationals.  The full results can be seen under the results tab on the home page.  Photos of both racing and the prize giving are on the club Facebook page.

Thanks have to go to the outgoing President for setting courses that worked in very difficult conditions and to the rescue crews that supported him.

Next Open is the Top Gun Sprints on July 28th.

Youth Training

See the Youth Sailing and Youth Training pages. Club Members can book in via WebCollect.

Adult Coaching

We have set a number of Sunday mornings aside for Adult Coaching. These align to the junior squad days so that parents can come and sail at the same time and have some support and coaching. The sessions will include a “Relaxed Introduction to Racing” so that they can enter the odd race and not be worried about being in the way or being too incompetent. See the Adult Sailing and improving pages.

Sailing and not Racing.

Club members are allowed to sail when the club is not racing. However, the safety cover is through Llandegfedd Activities, not the club.

For 2024, Hannah at Llandegfedd Activities has decided that the best way for us to sail when not racing, is just to talk to the Watersports Team.

Before you rig a boat, either your own, or a club one, check that that Watersports is able to support your sailing. There is always someone in their office and they have a list of their activities and the lead Instructor for the day.  They may impose restrictions, such as keeping to one end of the reservoir so they can rescue you if you have difficulties.  You need to say you are a Sailing Club member, and have a berth or are using a club boat.

They are helpful, just bear in mind that they can be very busy with multiple activities there. There may be a break at lunch time, and they are closing up by 1700 most days.

Need a Helm or Crew?

Robert Cone is re-introducing the Crewfinder service. If you want a crew for your boat, or want a helm, contact Robert at crewfinder@llandegfedd.org.uk. He will put you in touch as appropriate so we can have more boats on the water.
