Llandegfedd Lake Sailing Club has a long history of promoting Youth Sailing. Through our trainning courses and race development, we aim to nurture young sailors to develop skills and self sufficiency. Many of them have gone on to represent the club in races around the UK and sometimes the world. Each year we have been delighted to have a selection of our racers be selected to be part of the Welsh Squad racing teams.
Many of our junior sailors also go on to train as Assistant Instructors, drive the safety boats and then become full Dinghy Instructors, This can line up a nice holiday or gap year job as well as a chance to give back to the club by helping to train the next group of juniors.
LLSC is run fully by volunteers who take roles on the committee to ensure the smooth running of the club. All our training courses and coaching sessions are also run by volunteers who have the relevant qualifications and experience to enable our junior club to thrive as it does.
Our junior members use Toppers as their boat of choice almost exclusively. The club has a good selection of Toppers available for training sessions and for use by junior members once signed off by the Chief Instructor. We also have some club Fevas to introduce double handed sailing and older juniors go on to sail other craft such as 29ers or Lasers (we have 2 lasers with a choice of 3 rig sizes as club boats).
